Also, "American Rhapsody" is an official selection for the Lite Brite Test Film Festival at Southgate House!

July 16, 2008

Apparently, "American Rhapsody" was featured on MSNBC on Monday??? Weird but really awesome. Anybody see it? Anybody have it on their DVR?

June 11, 2008

I'm nominated for two more Regional Emmys this year, one of which is for "American Rhapsody," the Barack Obama-endorsing video I made last year with Mandy.

The award ceremony is in August. It's hard to edit with your fingers-crossed...

Look. Another Ghosthustler article.
This one is from Quick...which is a product of the Dallas Morning News.

Q: I heard you met up with ["Parking Lot Nights" director] Pete Ohs at South by Southwest. You guys gonna make any more videos?

Palomo: We definitely spoke about it.

It's true.

March 18, 2008

Well, I made it to the Gorilla vs. Booze party and it was paaaacked. I caught White Williams, Ghosthustler, and the Cool Kids. All completely awesome.

However, most of my time down at SXSW was spent at EAR Studios with WOXY filming over a dozen in-studio performances. The videos were produced with a new creative collective I co-founded called PROJECTMILL. We're only in the beginning stages but I have high hopes.

The videos we made will be posted over the next two weeks on WOXY's blog, The Futurist. Here's the one we made for The Kills:

February 27, 2008

Chris at Gorilla vs. Bear asked me to make a promo for his unofficial SXSW day party, Gorilla vs. Booze.

Aaaand I came up with this piece of ridiculousness -YouTube link

The line-up for this show is amazing both in diversity and quality. I really hope I find a way to make it over to this...

February 19, 2008

I shot a short film in Boston the first week of February. It's a comedy and it's being edited now but here's a little slide show courtesy of Matt Hins.

Note: The music of the slide show is pretty much the exact opposite tone of the film...but it still makes for a nice way to spend four minutes.

A new year. A new video.

The Fiery Furnaces' "Duplexes of the Dead" is completed and ready for your viewing pleasure -- YouTube Link

Pitchfork writes...

"The video for the track finds the Friedberger visages being projected onto surfaces in a constantly changing urban streetscape..."

Stereogum writes...
"...this Pete Ohs-directed clip features Friedberger faces projected on buildings and buses, Byrne-style, while a neon-trimmed monk slinks in the night..."

"Parking Lot Nights" is still getting press.

Exclaim! says...
"It’s a nerd’s dream come true to taste this kind of revenge, and Ohs has made it look as gratifying as you’d imagine it to be."

November 28 , 2007

Here's some productions stills from the Fiery Furnaces RE-shoot. Long story.

BUT the video will be finished on Monday.

It will be a birthday present to myself for all of my hard work...

October 17 , 2007

The Dallas Observer did a cover story about Ghosthustler and the buzz they've been getting. The article analyzes how the internet and Myspace has changed the way the world works. (See Arctic Monkeys, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tapes 'N Tapes)

Click to read the article...

The article does a pretty in-depth synopsis of the music video. Also, I'm quoted a couple times...

October 10 , 2007

The short & feature film projects have been put on hold...

I'm working on a video for The Fiery Furnaces off their new album "Widow City." The album was released yesterday and it is incredible.

I believe you have to be intelligent and have a sense of humor to enjoy it, so if you don't like it, you might be dumb or boring...

Look for the video in the next couple weeks.

September 4, 2007

Ghosthustler's "Parking Lot Nights" was dubbed a "Must See Video" in this month's issue of Spin Magazine!

Bohemian Rhapsody meets Capitol Hill!

The video is finished and up on Youtube. Definitely the biggest and longest production so far, this one is quite a journey. The idea came to me while taking a shower, of course. Low and behold, six months later, it is complete.

The video was produced for the comedy troupe I co-founded, The Alliterates. Mandy Levy (the other half of the troupe) wrote all the lyrics. If you like it, go watch the couple other videos we have. They are fun and funny too!

July 24, 2007

Both video shoots this weekend went great! The picture to the left is from Sunday. Those are some good-lookin' ladies! We've got a couple more pick-up shots to get and then this video will be in the can.

BIG BIG BIG THANKS to Matt H., Melinda, Lacey, Mrs. Voss, Caleb, Amy, Leslie, Jamie, Jilly, Melanie, Tyler, Sandra, Matt G., and baby Jason.

EXTRAS NEEDED FOR VIDEO SHOOT!

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 21st, I'm shooting a music video at the park in Northside. Specifically, the corner of Blue Rock and Hamilton. If you want to come down and hang out and even be IN the video, we'll be there from noon until 2 pm.

July 19, 2007

I finally uploaded two promo videos I made earlier this year. They are for the Cincinnati-based art gallery/printshop/design company, Feralmade.

The initial idea was to use comic strip "speak bubbles" in real life. Instead of hearing what the characters are saying, you read...like a comic. Eventually, I want to go back to this idea and try taking the "comic strip" idea a step further. A weekly series? Reoccuring characters? Talking stuffed animals? The possibilities are endless. Until then, watch both of these: Cough. & Balloons

July 6, 2007

I WON! That's right. I am now an Emmy-Award Winner!
I received two out of the three statues I was up for, including the Emmy for THIS. Thanks to everyone in the whole wide world!

June 22, 2007

The Ghosthustler
video is up and ready to be watched over and over and over. There's been a lot of nice things said about it on the internet which makes me feel good of course.

June 17, 2007

I directed a music video for Ghosthustler's "Parking Lot Nights." It'll be released to the internet in the next day or two. They're a young and fantastic new band from Denton, TX and this video is pretty awesome if I say so myself, and I do.

May 14 , 2007

I'm nominated for THREE Midwestern Regional Emmys! One of which was for my video track review of Au Revoir Simone's song "Through the Backyards." I find out if I win on June 23rd at a black tie awards ceremony. Fancy!

August 3 , 2006

Have you heard Cold War Kids or Margot & the Nuclear So and So's?? Both are spectacular bands from Los Angeles and Indianapolis, respectively. Also, I made videos of both of them over at The Anchor Center. Go look!

July 17 , 2006

Another video is up over at The Anchor Center! It's of the band Final Fantasy, which is actually just one guy and his violin. He uses a looping pedal to create full, complex songs right before your very eyes. It's pretty amazing and definitely worth checking out.

June 9 , 2006

I recently created a videoblog to host the video features I've been doing. Head on over The Anchor Center to check all that stuff out. The Aberdeen City and Sound Team features have been posted. Still in the can are Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, Film School, The Lovely Feathers, The Spinto Band, and Final Fantasy. PHEW! I've got a lot of editing to do...

May 18 , 2006

I just uploaded a new video for the Cincinnati-based band, The High & Low. They won "Best New Band" in CityBeat and will be playing at the Desdemona Festival in June. I'm also in post-production on some video features of bands that will be playing at Alchemize in the upcoming months. The first interviews will be of Boston-band Aberdeen City and the Austin-based, blog favorite SOUND team!
